Code (Virals Series)

Synopsis:

The Virals are put to the ultimate test when they find a geocache containing an ornate puzzle box. Shelton decodes the cipher inside, only to find more tantalizing clues left by “The Gamemaster.” A second, greater geocache is within reach—if the Virals are up to the challenge.

But the hunt takes a dark turn when Tory locates the other box—a fake bomb, along with a sinister proposal from The Gamemaster. Now, the real game has begun: another bomb is out there—a real one—and the clock is ticking.

The Phoenix’s Perspective

Code was very reminiscent of Saw.  You are at the whim of a crazy madman, who apparently has no idea of what a good game really is like.  Each stage of “the game” provided the Virals with a clue that would take them to the next stage.  Everything started off like fun and then started spiraling out of control when innocent people were being hurt and/or threatened.

On top of “The Gamemaster” and his craziness, Chance Claybourne is back in the mix.  He has been dropping subtle hints that lead Tory and the other Virals to be concerned.  Chance seems to know that something is going on and is making it his mission to uncover exactly what that is.

This is the third installment of the Virals series that I have read and Reichs has continued to pull me in. All I can say is that I read the book in one sitting. The ending was a cliffhanger, leading the reader believe that there will be another installment.

Would I add it to the library?

Yes! I would definitely add Code to the library. I have read this series thanks to the Forsyth County Public Library. I think so much of the series that I want to purchase them even though I have already read them.  I think it is definitely worth having them in my collection.
