But it’s time to stop running.

It’s time to make a choice

The Phoenix’s Perspective

It’s been about 3 months since I read the last installment in the series (Endless). I was worried that I would need my memory jogged. Come to find out — there’s no need to worry!  Shirvington brings you in just like she left you – feeling like one of the group and hungry for your adventure to continue.

I think it is truly amazing what she does. Shirvington doesn’t just make you feel for the characters. She makes you feel completely inserted into the story — feeling like part of every friendship and worrying about every relationship.  I would find myself laughing out loud or feeling on the verge of tears —- I couldn’t believe how much of a bond Shirvington had created between the characters and myself without me even realizing it.

The story itself was also amazing to follow. We see how all the characters have changed after the crazy events of the first four books. Violet has evolved into a fierce warrior – increased strength, more focus and even more control of her abilities.  Lincoln has become an even more respected leader – always focused on keeping evil at bay.  Even the rest of the crew, including humans and non-angels, has grown in unimaginable ways.

I know that at the core of the story has always been the love between Violet and Lincoln. We have seen Violet go from confining her life to her interaction with Lincoln to defining her life by the lack of interaction with Lincoln. She has been living as a slave to this love in one form or another.  In Empower, Violet begins to see that she has been limiting her life — her happiness — her powers — herself.  Sometimes surrendering oneself to that which threatens to take over can be an even more effective plan of action than fighting against it.

Would I add it to the library?
