Entice (Embrace Series)

The war between Exiles and Angels is on — and she’s wanted by both sides.

The hotly anticipated follow-up to EmbraceEntice ramps up the captivating combination of angel mythology, forbidden romance and intense action. Seventeen-year-old Violet Eden’s whole life changed when she discovered she is Grigori — part angel, part human.

Her destiny is to protect humans from the vengeance of exiled angels. Knowing who to trust is key, but when Grigori reinforcements arrive, it becomes clear everyone is hiding something – even her partner, Lincoln.

And now Violet has to learn to live with her feelings for him while they work together to stay alive and stop the exiles from discovering the key to destroy all Grigori. It isn’t easy. Especially when the electricity between her and exile Phoenix ignites, and she discovers his hold over her has become more dangerous than ever.

The race halfway across the world to find the one artifact that could tilt the balance of power between Angels and Exiles brings them to the cradle of civilization, where Violet’s power will be pushed to the extreme. And the ultimate betrayal exposed.

The Phoenix’s Perspective

With all the characters involved in the story (old and new), Violet remains center stage.  Though she has grown accustomed to her new life as a Grogori, she is still working out a good balance between the old and the new – including the delicate balance of her feelings for Lincoln.

The idea of consequences is the focal point of Entice.  I am not discussing just the consequences of the battle between the Grogori and the exiles.  There is a big focus on the weight of decisions being made and how those decisions will affect everyone around you in the long run.

For Violet, there are many decisions circling around her just waiting to be made.  How should/will she handle her relationship with Lincoln?  Should she just limit her contact with Lincoln to their moments in battle?  With the appearance of old foes and the introduction of new “allies,” who can/should she put her trust in?  When it comes to Magda, is it just jealousy that fuels her distrust or is there really something to worry about?

Knowing that this is only the second book in the series, I figured the questions would not all be answered in this book. Well, I was wrong! Shirvington managed to answer those questions without taking the mystery out of the book – without making the reader feel like the story had nowhere else to go.

Entice was definitely a good continuation of the journey that Violet began in Embrace. Even with the loose ends that were tied up, Entice still leaves the reader wanting more – wanting to see how life continues for everyone, especially for Violet and Lincoln (the relationship that always seems to be on the rocks).

Would I add it to the library?

Yes! I always worry when I go ahead and buy a series based on my excitement with the first book. Well, no worry needed here.  I can’t wait to move onto Emblaze and am very excited to know that a fifth book will be released in May of this year.
